***When you think about music you probably get super excited because everybody likes certain songs, certain types of music, and have "their jam" and it's usually attached to a memory or good time!
How about when you think about prayer!?
is that something that's part of your daily life or is it something that you would love more of-- but you really don't know where to start?
I like to connect the two. For me they connect.
Music for me has been for me, a thread from when I was little until today through all of my life my experiences and who I am! Through my amazing blessed memories and through my really Hard times!
We all could sit and name certain songs that when you hear it you're like oh my gosh- That song reminds me of spring break or a breakup or reminds me of high school in the parking lot.....
And even today you think- That song is awesome because it is my favorite workout song, That's my jam and everyone knows when it comes on I'm ready to bust a move, That song reminds me of a movie I saw that touches my spirit....
I love when lyrics in a song express exactly what you're feeling and thinking and they put it into words for you- Whether it's a rap song ( And strictly talking about lyrical content and not if you agree about if your kids should listen to the music or the language that's used)
Rap and hip-hop express a culture and experience that a group of people have lived and are living and when they're rapping about it and speaking about it - In their authentic voice of how they speak and express themselves--people connect to that because they're putting a voice to what people just like them are feeling! ( repeat- I'm not talking about your opinion on explicit lyrics or if kids should listen to it).
It could be Michael Buble-I'm feeling good-" Birds flying high you know how I feel". Poetic- it's sweet- and it's reflecting feeling good! ( 1 of my 6 wedding songs- haaaa!)
Prayer is speaking and talking and communicating through words, through arts, through thoughts, through design, through feelings, through movement, through any kind of expression that feels right for you and connecting to your higher power, God, Jesus something bigger than you -your SOURCE!
When you feel stuck in your journey or you're having a frustrating day or you feel lonely or feel pissed off or misunderstood or maybe you feel like you don't know what the next step is in a relationship or in your life or just in your spiritual journey--- Prayer changes everything because it's like an electrical plug --it plugs- you into your source that created you your-Divinity.Doesn't matter how old you are, who you are, where you are you,-- are divine your magnificent your powerful and you have something bigger and better and greater operating your life!!
I encourage you to develop, strengthen, or even start your prayer life and a great way to do that is through music! Connect to songs that speak your language to click with you and the lyrics resonate with you on some level---And enjoy it and be open to it and let that be your conversation to God!!
( Especially you ladies that have absolutely no time and your plates are overflowing)...
My favorite prayer is really simple- thank you thank you thank you!
